Have an idea to share? An experience to describe? A passion to spread?

Join us on the lightning talks stage, we want to hear about it!

WHY LIGHTNING TALKS?

It is fun, it is fast, it is easy to prepare and deliver a talk. Lightning talks have a long history, they come in different formats and vary in duration. The talk maybe given by experienced speakers or by first time speakers (this is a great way to get started if you have something great to share).

Nevertheless of the format there is something that is common for all types of "lightning" talk. They are fast, bright and catchy. The focus is on the content of the talk, rather than your presentation style.

FORMAT AND TIMING

Each speaker will have five minutes in total. Its an open, honest, informal, free format talk with no presentation deck or other fancy tools. You can stand in the center of a group of like-minded people, and share your talk with them.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why only 5 mins?
Simply because small is beautiful and small is punchy. Focus on 1 to max 3 key points the audience can take away from your talk.

2. Will there be extra time for Question and Answers?
No. Unlike regular talks, lightning talks don’t have a Q&A section. These talks are usually just one-way. They generally lead to followup discussion and better networking with like-minded participants after the talk.

3. Once I submit my lightning talk, are there chances of it getting rejected?
We rarely reject lightning talks. We want to encourage more people to give lightning talks and we are willing to work with them to refine their topic and focus of the talk to ensure they deliver a world-class lightning talk.

4. Do I get any compensation for delivering a lightning talk?
No. You have to register for the conference to be able to deliver a lightning talk. It is meant for participants who have registered for the conference and planning to already be there at the conference.
